Here’s the thing.
I wrote sometime ago that publishers are ready to publish my book about the Donbass titled “People Here” at their own expense, but without photos. They’d publish it with photos only if I covered the cost. Therefore I abandoned that idea, and wrote about it on the blog. On the same day, I received messages from several people asking how much it would cost to publish the book with photos, and offered their financial aid.
So, I’ve been thinking.
And decided that the book probably really does need the photos. Particularly since there are actually too many of them.
So I’ll probably take the chance.
I really didn’t want to ask “for myself.” That’s what I replied to people who offered help. But they all answered it was not about me. Which is also probably true.
I really don’t want to write high-flying phrases on how the Donbass is missing from news coverage. That people stopped talking about it, but the war goes on. People are dying, become sick, and it’s a catastrophe for millions. I don’t want to write what everyone already knows–the movies and books which do come out are largely forgotten. I don’t know what fate has in store for my book. But I know I lived it from cover to cover.
If you want to support me in this, please label any donations “Book. Only those donations specifically earmarked for it will be used to finance it.
I don’t know what else to add.
I want to publish it as soon as possible, and make a big presentation.
I’ll wear a beautiful dress and try not to cry, only smile a lot.
People say it becomes me.
Thank you and a separate thanks to my friends who decided to help.
